- So the LORD brought the king of Babylon against them. The Babylonians killed Judah's young men, even chasing after them into the Temple. They had no pity on the people, killing both young and old, men and women, healthy and sick. God handed them all over to Nebuchadnezzar.

- "Son of man," he said, "do you see what they are doing? Do you see the great sins the people of Israel are doing to drive me from my Temple? But come, and you will see even greater sins than these!"
- Then he brought me to the door of the Temple courtyard, where I could see an opening in the wall.
- He said to me, "Now, son of man, dig into the wall." So I dug into the wall and uncovered a door to a hidden room.
- "Go in," he said, "and see the unspeakable wickedness going on in there!"
- So I went in and saw the walls engraved with all kinds of snakes, lizards, and hideous creatures. I also saw the various idols worshiped by the people of Israel.
2 Kings 17:9
- The people of Israel had also secretly done many things that were not pleasing to the LORD their God. They built pagan shrines for themselves in all their towns, from the smallest outpost to the largest walled city.
- They set up sacred pillars and Asherah poles at the top of every hill and under every green tree.
- They burned incense at the shrines, just like the nations the LORD had driven from the land ahead of them. So the people of Israel had done many evil things, arousing the LORD's anger.

- Again and again the LORD had sent his prophets and seers to warn both Israel and Judah: "Turn from all your evil ways. Obey my commands and laws, which are contained in the whole law that I commanded your ancestors and which I gave you through my servants the prophets."

- Should I not punish them for this?" asks the LORD. "Should I not avenge myself against a nation such as this?
Ezekiel 7:27
- The king and the prince will stand helpless, weeping in despair, and the people's hands will tremble with fear. I will bring against them the evil they have done to others, and they will receive the punishment they so richly deserve. Then they will know that I am the LORD!"

- And your prophets announce false visions and speak false messages. They say, `My message is from the Sovereign LORD,' when the LORD hasn't spoken a single word to them. They repair cracked walls with whitewash!
- Even common people oppress the poor, rob the needy, and deprive foreigners of justice.
Psalms 83:17
- Let them be ashamed and terrified forever. Make them failures in everything they do,
- until they learn that you alone are called the LORD, that you alone are the Most High, supreme over all the earth.
