11: And suppose that son does all the evil things his father would never do--worships idols on the mountains, commits adultery,

Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.

But the man of God said to the king, "Even if you gave me half of everything you own, I would not go with you. I would not eat any food or drink any water in this place.

You came back to this place and ate food and drank water where he told you not to eat or drink. Because of this, your body will not be buried in the grave of your ancestors."

So you see, it isn't enough just to have faith. Faith that doesn't show itself by good deeds is no faith at all--it is dead and useless.

Suppose this son refuses to worship idols on the mountains, does not commit adultery,

And we will receive whatever we request because we obey him and do the things that please him.

and he has not feasted in the mountains before Israel's idols or worshiped them. And suppose he does not commit adultery or have intercourse with a woman during her menstrual period.
Suppose he is a merciful creditor, not keeping the items given in pledge by poor debtors, and does not rob the poor but instead gives food to the hungry and provides clothes for people in need.

"Not all people who sound religious are really godly. They may refer to me as 'Lord,' but they still won't enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven.
On judgment day many will tell me, 'Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.'
But I will reply, 'I never knew you. Go away; the things you did were unauthorized. '
"Anyone who listens to my teaching and obeys me is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse, because it is built on rock.

Blessed are those who wash their robes so they can enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life.

He replied, "But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice."
