11: And though Israel's leaders saw God, he did not destroy them. In fact, they shared a meal together in God's presence!

Then the LORD told Moses, "Go back down and warn the people not to cross the boundaries. They must not come up here to see the LORD, for those who do will die.

Then Jethro presented a burnt offering and gave sacrifices to God. As Jethro was doing this, Aaron and the leaders of Israel came out to meet him. They all joined him in a sacrificial meal in God's presence.

When we bless the cup at the Lord's Table, aren't we sharing in the benefits of the blood of Christ? And when we break the loaf of bread, aren't we sharing in the benefits of the body of Christ?
And we all eat from one loaf, showing that we are one body.
And think about the nation of Israel; all who eat the sacrifices are united by that act.

The nobles send servants to get water, but all the wells are dry. The servants return with empty pitchers, confused and desperate, covering their heads in grief.

But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live."
The LORD continued, "Stand here on this rock beside me.
As my glorious presence passes by, I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed.
Then I will remove my hand, and you will see me from behind. But my face will not be seen."

Then the commanders, nobles, rulers, and all the people escorted the king from the Temple of the LORD. They went through the Upper Gate and into the palace, and they seated the king on the royal throne.

There you and your families will feast in the presence of the LORD your God, and you will rejoice in all you have accomplished because the LORD your God has blessed you.

So go ahead. Eat your food and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!

This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a man came and wrestled with him until dawn.

Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy of the leaders of Israel went up the mountain.
