37: You will become an object of horror, a proverb and a mockery among all the nations to which the LORD sends you.

1 Kings 9:7

  1. then I will uproot the people of Israel from this land I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have set apart to honor my name. I will make Israel an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations.

  1. The LORD will strike you with madness, blindness, and panic.

Joel 2:17

  1. The priests, who minister in the LORD's presence, will stand between the people and the altar, weeping. Let them pray, "Spare your people, LORD! They belong to you, so don't let them become an object of mockery. Don't let their name become a proverb of unbelieving foreigners who say, `Where is the God of Israel? He must be helpless!'"

  1. You have caused all our neighbors to mock us. We are an object of scorn and derision to the nations around us.
  2. You have made us the butt of their jokes; we are scorned by the whole world.
