5: Then build an altar there to the LORD your God, using natural stones.

Exodus 20:25

  1. If you build altars from stone, use only uncut stones. Do not chip or shape the stones with a tool, for that would make them unfit for holy use.

1 Kings 18:31

  1. He took twelve stones, one to represent each of the tribes of Israel,
  2. and he used the stones to rebuild the LORD's altar. Then he dug a trench around the altar large enough to hold about three gallons.

Joshua 8:30

  1. Then Joshua built an altar to the LORD, the God of Israel, on Mount Ebal.
