2: In such cases, your leaders and judges must determine which town is nearest the body.
Deuteronomy 16:18
- "Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in all the towns the LORD your God is giving you. They will judge the people fairly throughout the land.
- You must never twist justice or show partiality. Never accept a bribe, for bribes blind the eyes of the wise and corrupt the decisions of the godly.
Romans 13:3
- For the authorities do not frighten people who are doing right, but they frighten those who do wrong. So do what they say, and you will get along well.
- The authorities are sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for you will be punished. The authorities are established by God for that very purpose, to punish those who do wrong.
