16: If a malicious witness comes forward and accuses someone of a crime,

Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I've never done and breathe out violence against me.

Malicious witnesses testify against me. They accuse me of things I don't even know about.

"Do not pass along false reports. Do not cooperate with evil people by telling lies on the witness stand.
"Do not join a crowd that intends to do evil. When you are on the witness stand, do not be swayed in your testimony by the opinion of the majority.
And do not slant your testimony in favor of a person just because that person is poor.
"If you come upon your enemy's ox or donkey that has strayed away, take it back to its owner.
If you see the donkey of someone who hates you struggling beneath a heavy load, do not walk by. Instead, stop and offer to help.

Inside, the leading priests and the entire high council were trying to find witnesses who would testify against Jesus, so they could put him to death. But their efforts were in vain.
Many false witnesses spoke against him, but they contradicted each other.

Then two scoundrels accused him before all the people of cursing God and the king. So he was dragged outside the city and stoned to death.

The lying witnesses said, "This man is always speaking against the Temple and against the law of Moses.
