Deuteronomy 15:2

2: This is how it must be done. Creditors must cancel the loans they have made to their fellow Israelites. They must not demand payment from their neighbors or relatives, for the LORD's time of release has arrived.

James 2:13

  1. He couldn't pay, so the king ordered that he, his wife, his children, and everything he had be sold to pay the debt.
  2. But the man fell down before the king and begged him, 'Oh, sir, be patient with me, and I will pay it all.'
  3. Then the king was filled with pity for him, and he released him and forgave his debt.
  4. "But when the man left the king, he went to a fellow servant who owed him a few thousand dollars. He grabbed him by the throat and demanded instant payment.
  5. His fellow servant fell down before him and begged for a little more time. 'Be patient and I will pay it,' he pleaded.

  5. You must restore their fields, vineyards, olive groves, and homes to them this very day. Repay the interest you charged on their money, grain, wine, and olive oil."

Amos 8:4

  1. Listen to this, you who rob the poor and trample the needy!
  2. You can't wait for the Sabbath day to be over and the religious festivals to end so you can get back to cheating the helpless. You measure out your grain in false measures and weigh it out on dishonest scales.
  3. And you mix the wheat you sell with chaff swept from the floor! Then you enslave poor people for a debt of one piece of silver or a pair of sandals.

Matthew 6:14

  1. "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.
  2. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
