11: All Israel has disobeyed your law and turned away, refusing to listen to your voice. "So now the solemn curses and judgments written in the law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out against us because of our sin.

Jeremiah 8:5

  1. Then why do these people keep going along their self-destructive path, refusing to turn back, even though I have warned them?
  2. I listen to their conversations, and what do I hear? Is anyone sorry for sin? Does anyone say, "What a terrible thing I have done"? No! All are running down the path of sin as swiftly as a horse rushing into battle!
  3. The stork knows the time of her migration, as do the turtledove, the swallow, and the crane. They all return at the proper time each year. But not my people! They do not know what the LORD requires of them.
  4. " `How can you say, "We are wise because we have the law of the LORD," when your teachers have twisted it so badly?
  5. These wise teachers will be shamed by exile for their sin, for they have rejected the word of the LORD. Are they so wise after all?

Deuteronomy 28:15

  1. "But if you refuse to listen to the LORD your God and do not obey all the commands and laws I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overwhelm you:
  2. You will be cursed in your towns and in the country.
  3. You will be cursed with baskets empty of fruit, and with kneading bowls empty of bread.
  4. You will be cursed with few children and barren fields. You will be cursed with infertile herds and flocks.
  5. You will be cursed wherever you go, both in coming and in going.

Isaiah 1:4

  1. Oh, what a sinful nation they are! They are loaded down with a burden of guilt. They are evil and corrupt children who have turned away from the LORD. They have despised the Holy One of Israel, cutting themselves off from his help.
  2. Why do you continue to invite punishment? Must you rebel forever? Your head is injured, and your heart is sick.

Deuteronomy 31:17

  1. Then my anger will blaze forth against them. I will abandon them, hiding my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Terrible trouble will come down on them, so that they will say, `These disasters have come because God is no longer among us!'
  2. At that time I will hide my face from them on account of all the sins they have committed by worshiping other gods.

Deuteronomy 29:20

  1. The LORD will not pardon such people. His anger and jealousy will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will come down on them, and the LORD will erase their names from under heaven.
  2. The LORD will separate them from all the tribes of Israel, to pour out on them all the covenant curses recorded in this Book of the Law.
  3. "Then the generations to come, both your own descendants and the foreigners who come from distant lands, will see the devastation of the land and the diseases the LORD will send against it.
  4. They will find its soil turned into sulfur and salt, with nothing planted and nothing growing, not even a blade of grass. It will be just like Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD destroyed in his anger.
  5. The surrounding nations will ask, `Why has the LORD done this to his land? Why was he so angry?'

Leviticus 26:14

  1. "However, if you do not listen to me or obey my commands,
  2. and if you break my covenant by rejecting my laws and treating my regulations with contempt,
  3. I will punish you. You will suffer from sudden terrors, with wasting diseases, and with burning fevers, causing your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will plant your crops in vain because your enemies will eat them.
  4. I will turn against you, and you will be defeated by all your enemies. They will rule over you, and you will run even when no one is chasing you!
  5. "And if, in spite of this, you still disobey me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over.

2 Kings 17:18

  1. And because the LORD was angry, he swept them from his presence. Only the tribe of Judah remained in the land.
  2. But even the people of Judah refused to obey the commands of the LORD their God. They walked down the same evil paths that Israel had established.
  3. So the LORD rejected all the descendants of Israel. He punished them by handing them over to their attackers until they were destroyed.
  4. For when the LORD tore Israel away from the kingdom of David, they chose Jeroboam son of Nebat as their king. Then Jeroboam drew Israel away from following the LORD and made them commit a great sin.
  5. And the people of Israel persisted in all the evil ways of Jeroboam. They did not turn from these sins of idolatry

Ezekiel 22:26

  1. Your priests have violated my laws and defiled my holy things. To them there is no difference between what is holy and what is not. And they do not teach my people the difference between what is ceremonially clean and unclean. They disregard my Sabbath days so that my holy name is greatly dishonored among them.
  2. Your leaders are like wolves, who tear apart their victims. They actually destroy people's lives for profit!
  3. And your prophets announce false visions and speak false messages. They say, `My message is from the Sovereign LORD,' when the LORD hasn't spoken a single word to them. They repair cracked walls with whitewash!
  4. Even common people oppress the poor, rob the needy, and deprive foreigners of justice.
  5. "I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn't have to destroy the land, but I found no one.

Deuteronomy 27:15

  1. `Cursed is anyone who carves or casts idols and secretly sets them up. These idols, the work of craftsmen, are detestable to the LORD.' And all the people will reply, `Amen.'
  2. `Cursed is anyone who despises father or mother.' And all the people will reply, `Amen.'
  3. `Cursed is anyone who steals property from a neighbor by moving a boundary marker.' And all the people will reply, `Amen.'
  4. `Cursed is anyone who leads a blind person astray on the road.' And all the people will reply, `Amen.'
  5. `Cursed is anyone who is unjust to foreigners, orphans, and widows.' And all the people will reply, `Amen.'

Deuteronomy 30:17

  1. But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods,
  2. then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy.
  3. "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your descendants might live!
