29: "When they had fulfilled all the prophecies concerning his death, they took him down from the cross and placed him in a tomb.

Then he took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in a long linen cloth and laid it in a new tomb that had been carved out of rock.

Jesus knew that everything was now finished, and to fulfill the Scriptures he said, "I am thirsty."

When Jesus had tasted it, he said, "It is finished!" Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Then he said, "When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me by Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must all come true."

The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by crucifying him.

The officer confirmed the fact, and Pilate told Joseph he could have the body.
Joseph bought a long sheet of linen cloth, and taking Jesus' body down from the cross, he wrapped it in the cloth and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance.

These things happened in fulfillment of the Scriptures that say, "Not one of his bones will be broken,"
and "They will look on him whom they pierced."
Afterward Joseph of Arimathea, who had been a secret disciple of Jesus (because he feared the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate for permission to take Jesus' body down. When Pilate gave him permission, he came and took the body away.
Nicodemus, the man who had come to Jesus at night, also came, bringing about seventy-five pounds of embalming ointment made from myrrh and aloes.
Together they wrapped Jesus' body in a long linen cloth with the spices, as is the Jewish custom of burial.

As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who was one of Jesus' followers,
went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. And Pilate issued an order to release it to him.

But you followed God's prearranged plan. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to the cross and murdered him.

He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, as the Scriptures said.

The people in Jerusalem and their leaders fulfilled prophecy by condemning Jesus to death. They didn't recognize him or realize that he is the one the prophets had written about, though they hear the prophets' words read every Sabbath.

Gathering the twelve disciples around him, Jesus told them, "As you know, we are going to Jerusalem. And when we get there, all the predictions of the ancient prophets concerning the Son of Man will come true.
He will be handed over to the Romans to be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit upon.
They will whip him and kill him, but on the third day he will rise again."
