17: "The God of this nation of Israel chose our ancestors and made them prosper in Egypt. Then he powerfully led them out of their slavery.
Deuteronomy 7:6
- For you are a holy people, who belong to the LORD your God. Of all the people on earth, the LORD your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.
- "The LORD did not choose you and lavish his love on you because you were larger or greater than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations!
- It was simply because the LORD loves you, and because he was keeping the oath he had sworn to your ancestors. That is why the LORD rescued you with such amazing power from your slavery under Pharaoh in Egypt.
Psalms 105:23
- Then Israel arrived in Egypt; Jacob lived as a foreigner in the land of Ham.
- And the LORD multiplied the people of Israel until they became too mighty for their enemies.
Acts 7:2
- This was Stephen's reply: "Brothers and honorable fathers, listen to me. Our glorious God appeared to our ancestor Abraham in Mesopotamia before he moved to Haran.
- God told him, 'Leave your native land and your relatives, and come to the land that I will show you.'

Exodus 1:7
- But their descendants had many children and grandchildren. In fact, they multiplied so quickly that they soon filled the land.
- Then a new king came to the throne of Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done.
- He told his people, "These Israelites are becoming a threat to us because there are so many of them.
Psalms 105:42

Psalms 114:1
- When the Israelites escaped from Egypt--when the family of Jacob left that foreign land--
- the land of Judah became God's sanctuary, and Israel became his kingdom.
- The Red Sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way! The water of the Jordan River turned away.
- The mountains skipped like rams, the little hills like lambs!

Exodus 6:1
- "Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh," the LORD told Moses. "When he feels my powerful hand upon him, he will let the people go. In fact, he will be so anxious to get rid of them that he will force them to leave his land!"
- And God continued, "I am the LORD.
- I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty, though I did not reveal my name, the LORD, to them.
- And I entered into a solemn covenant with them. Under its terms, I swore to give them the land of Canaan, where they were living.
- You can be sure that I have heard the groans of the people of Israel, who are now slaves to the Egyptians. I have remembered my covenant with them.
Psalms 106:7
- Our ancestors in Egypt were not impressed by the LORD's miracles. They soon forgot his many acts of kindness to them. Instead, they rebelled against him at the Red Sea.
- Even so, he saved them--to defend the honor of his name and to demonstrate his mighty power.
- He commanded the Red Sea to divide, and a dry path appeared. He led Israel across the sea bottom that was as dry as a desert.
- So he rescued them from their enemies and redeemed them from their foes.
- Then the water returned and covered their enemies; not one of them survived.
Jeremiah 33:24
- "Have you heard what people are saying?--`The LORD chose Judah and Israel and then abandoned them!' They are sneering and saying that Israel is not worthy to be counted as a nation.

- Again I say, this ceremony will be like a mark branded on your hands or your forehead. It is a visible reminder that it was the LORD who brought you out of Egypt with great power."
Psalms 78:42
- They forgot about his power and how he rescued them from their enemies.
- They forgot his miraculous signs in Egypt, his wonders on the plain of Zoan.
- For he turned their rivers into blood, so no one could drink from the streams.
- He sent vast swarms of flies to consume them and hordes of frogs to ruin them.
- He gave their crops to caterpillars; their harvest was consumed by locusts.
Deuteronomy 14:2
- You have been set apart as holy to the LORD your God, and he has chosen you to be his own special treasure from all the nations of the earth.
Deuteronomy 9:5
- It is not at all because you are such righteous, upright people that you are about to occupy their land. The LORD your God will drive these nations out ahead of you only because of their wickedness, and to fulfill the oath he had sworn to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
1 Peter 2:9
- But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are a kingdom of priests, God's holy nation, his very own possession. This is so you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

Isaiah 63:9

Micah 7:15

- He is the LORD our God. His rule is seen throughout the land.
- He always stands by his covenant--the commitment he made to a thousand generations.
- This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac.
- He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to the people of Israel as a never-ending treaty:
Isaiah 41:8
- "But as for you, Israel my servant, Jacob my chosen one, descended from my friend Abraham,
- I have called you back from the ends of the earth so you can serve me. For I have chosen you and will not throw you away.
Deuteronomy 10:22
- When your ancestors went down into Egypt, there were only seventy of them. But now the LORD your God has made you as numerous as the stars in the sky!
Amos 2:10
- It was I who rescued you from Egypt and led you through the desert for forty years so you could possess the land of the Amorites.
