17: And since God gave these Gentiles the same gift he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to argue?"

"Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?"

For who can know what the Lord is thinking? Who knows enough to be his counselor?
And who could ever give him so much that he would have to pay it back?
For everything comes from him; everything exists by his power and is intended for his glory. To him be glory evermore. Amen.

No, don't say that. Who are you, a mere human being, to criticize God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who made it, "Why have you made me like this?"
When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn't he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage into?
God has every right to exercise his judgment and his power, but he also has the right to be very patient with those who are the objects of his judgment and are fit only for destruction.
He also has the right to pour out the riches of his glory upon those he prepared to be the objects of his mercy--
even upon us, whom he selected, both from the Jews and from the Gentiles.

All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He has the power to do as he pleases among the angels of heaven and with those who live on earth. No one can stop him or challenge him, saying, `What do you mean by doing these things?'

"Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God's critic, but do you have the answers?"

For God said to Moses, "I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose."
So receiving God's promise is not up to us. We can't get it by choosing it or working hard for it. God will show mercy to anyone he chooses.

But if it is of God, you will not be able to stop them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God."

So why are you bringing a charge against him? You say, `He does not respond to people's complaints.'

"Well, I began telling them the Good News, but just as I was getting started, the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.

Are you going to discredit my justice and condemn me so you can say you are right?
Are you as strong as God, and can you thunder with a voice like his?

If he sends death to snatch someone away, who can stop him? Who dares to ask him, `What are you doing?'
And God does not restrain his anger. The mightiest forces against him are crushed beneath his feet.
"And who am I, that I should try to answer God or even reason with him?

God, who knows people's hearts, confirmed that he accepts Gentiles by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as he gave him to us.
He made no distinction between us and them, for he also cleansed their hearts through faith.

Take it and go. I wanted to pay this last worker the same as you.
Is it against the law for me to do what I want with my money? Should you be angry because I am kind?'

The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out upon the Gentiles, too.
