6: This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.

Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecies spoken to you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you.

God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God's generosity can flow through you.
Are you called to be a speaker? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Are you called to help others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then God will be given glory in everything through Jesus Christ. All glory and power belong to him forever and ever. Amen.

God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out when you have faith that God is speaking through you.
If your gift is that of serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, do a good job of teaching.
If your gift is to encourage others, do it! If you have money, share it generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Preach the word of God. Be persistent, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.

This is my second letter to you, dear friends, and in both of them I have tried to stimulate your wholesome thinking and refresh your memory.

I plan to keep on reminding you of these things--even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth.

He gave five bags of gold to one, two bags of gold to another, and one bag of gold to the last--dividing it in proportion to their abilities--and then left on his trip.
The servant who received the five bags of gold began immediately to invest the money and soon doubled it.

Let us review the situation together, and you can present your case if you have one.

I must remind you--and you know it well--that even though the Lord rescued the whole nation of Israel from Egypt, he later destroyed every one of those who did not remain faithful.

If you explain this to the brothers and sisters, you will be doing your duty as a worthy servant of Christ Jesus, one who is fed by the message of faith and the true teaching you have followed.

Remind everyone of these things, and command them in God's name to stop fighting over words. Such arguments are useless, and they can ruin those who hear them.

You don't need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
