1: Once again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and he caused David to harm them by taking a census. "Go and count the people of Israel and Judah," the LORD told him.
1 Chronicles 27:23
- When David took his census, he did not count those who were younger than twenty years of age, because the LORD had promised to make the Israelites as numerous as the stars in heaven.

- "Well, money won't do it," the Gibeonites replied. "And we don't want to see the Israelites executed in revenge.What can I do then?" David asked. "Just tell me and I will do it for you."
- Then they replied, "It was Saul who planned to destroy us, to keep us from having any place at all in Israel.
