2 Corinthians 8:19

19: He was appointed by the churches to accompany us as we take the offering to Jerusalem--a service that glorifies the Lord and shows our eagerness to help.

1 Corinthians 16:3

  1. When I come I will write letters of recommendation for the messengers you choose to deliver your gift to Jerusalem.

  3. For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford but far more. And they did it of their own free will.
  4. They begged us again and again for the gracious privilege of sharing in the gift for the Christians in Jerusalem.

Philippians 4:18

  1. At the moment I have all I need--more than I need! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable to God and pleases him.
  2. And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 9:12

  1. So two good things will happen--the needs of the Christians in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanksgiving to God.
  2. You will be glorifying God through your generous gifts. For your generosity to them will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.
  3. And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the wonderful grace of God shown through you.

Acts 6:3

  1. "Now look around among yourselves, brothers, and select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. We will put them in charge of this business.
  2. Then we can spend our time in prayer and preaching and teaching the word."
  3. This idea pleased the whole group, and they chose the following: Stephen (a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit), Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas of Antioch (a Gentile convert to the Jewish faith, who had now become a Christian).
  4. These seven were presented to the apostles, who prayed for them as they laid their hands on them.

Acts 15:22

  1. Then the apostles and elders and the whole church in Jerusalem chose delegates, and they sent them to Antioch of Syria with Paul and Barnabas to report on this decision. The men chosen were two of the church leaders--Judas (also called Barsabbas) and Silas.
