22: "If someone wrongs another person and is required to take an oath of innocence in front of the altar at this Temple,

The neighbor must then take an oath of innocence in the presence of the LORD. The owner must accept the neighbor's word, and no payment will be required.

For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, "Who is the LORD?" And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God's holy name.

"If someone wrongs another person and is required to take an oath of innocence in front of the altar at this Temple,
then hear from heaven and judge between your servants--the accuser and the accused. Punish the guilty party and acquit the one who is innocent.

And you say that to take an oath 'by the altar' can be broken, but to swear 'by the gifts on the altar' is binding!

The priest will put the woman under oath and say to her, "If no other man has slept with you, and you have not defiled yourself by being unfaithful, may you be immune from the effects of this bitter water that causes the curse.
But if you have gone astray while under your husband's authority and defiled yourself by sleeping with another man"--
at this point the priest must put the woman under this oath--"then may the people see that the LORD's curse is upon you when he makes you infertile.
Now may this water that brings the curse enter your body and make you infertile. "And the woman will be required to say, "Yes, let it be so."

"If any of the people are called to testify about something they have witnessed, but they refuse to testify, they will be held responsible and be subject to punishment.
