7: Then the priests carried the Ark of the LORD's covenant into the inner sanctuary of the Temple--the Most Holy Place--and placed it beneath the wings of the cherubim.
Exodus 37:6
- Then, from pure gold, he made the Ark's cover--the place of atonement. It was 3 3/4 feet long and 2 1/4 feet wide.
- He made two figures of cherubim out of hammered gold and placed them at the two ends of the atonement cover.
- They were made so they were actually a part of the atonement cover--it was all one piece.
- The cherubim faced each other as they looked down on the atonement cover, and their wings were stretched out above the atonement cover to protect it.
1 Kings 6:23
- Within the inner sanctuary Solomon placed two cherubim made of olive wood, each 15 feet tall.
- The wingspan of each of the cherubim was 15 feet, each wing being 7 1/2 feet long.
- The two cherubim were identical in shape and size;
- each was 15 feet tall.
- Solomon placed them side by side in the inner sanctuary of the Temple. Their outspread wings reached from wall to wall, while their inner wings touched at the center of the room.
1 Kings 8:6

- The cherubim spread their wings over the Ark, forming a canopy over the Ark and its carrying poles.
Hebrews 9:4
- In that room were a gold incense altar and a wooden chest called the Ark of the Covenant, which was covered with gold on all sides. Inside the Ark were a gold jar containing some manna, Aaron's staff that sprouted leaves, and the stone tablets of the covenant with the Ten Commandments written on them.
- The glorious cherubim were above the Ark. Their wings were stretched out over the Ark's cover, the place of atonement. But we cannot explain all of these things now.
