15: Manasseh also removed the foreign gods from the hills and the idol from the LORD's Temple. He tore down all the altars he had built on the hill where the Temple stood and all the altars that were in Jerusalem, and he dumped them outside the city.

2 Chronicles 33:3

  1. He rebuilt the pagan shrines his father Hezekiah had destroyed. He constructed altars for the images of Baal and set up Asherah poles. He also bowed before all the stars of heaven and worshiped them.
  2. He even built pagan altars in the Temple of the LORD, the place where the LORD had said his name should be honored forever.
  3. He put these altars for the stars of heaven in both courtyards of the LORD's Temple.
  4. Manasseh even sacrificed his own sons in the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom. He practiced sorcery, divination, and witchcraft, and he consulted with mediums and psychics. He did much that was evil in the LORD's sight, arousing his anger.
  5. Manasseh even took a carved idol he had made and set it up in God's Temple, the very place where God had told David and his son Solomon: "My name will be honored here forever in this Temple and in Jerusalem--the city I have chosen from among all the other tribes of Israel.

Isaiah 2:17

  1. The arrogance of all people will be brought low. Their pride will lie in the dust. The LORD alone will be exalted!
  2. Idols will be utterly abolished and destroyed.
  3. When the LORD rises to shake the earth, his enemies will crawl with fear into holes in the ground. They will hide in caves in the rocks from the terror of the LORD and the glory of his majesty.
  4. They will abandon their gold and silver idols to the moles and bats.
  5. They will crawl into caverns and hide among the jagged rocks at the tops of cliffs. In this way, they will try to escape the terror of the LORD and the glory of his majesty as he rises to shake the earth.

Hosea 14:1

  1. Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for your sins have brought you down.
  2. Bring your petitions, and return to the LORD. Say to him, "Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us, so that we may offer you the sacrifice of praise.
  3. Assyria cannot save us, nor can our strength in battle. Never again will we call the idols we have made `our gods.' No, in you alone do the orphans find mercy."

Ezekiel 18:20

  1. The one who sins is the one who dies. The child will not be punished for the parent's sins, and the parent will not be punished for the child's sins. Righteous people will be rewarded for their own goodness, and wicked people will be punished for their own wickedness.
  2. But if wicked people turn away from all their sins and begin to obey my laws and do what is just and right, they will surely live and not die.
  3. All their past sins will be forgotten, and they will live because of the righteous things they have done.

  1. Prove by the way you live that you have really turned from your sins and turned to God.
