2 Chronicles 32:1

1: After Hezekiah had faithfully carried out this work, King Sennacherib of Assyria invaded Judah. He laid siege to the fortified cities, giving orders for his army to break through their walls.

2 Kings 18:13

  1. In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah's reign, King Sennacherib of Assyria came to attack the fortified cities of Judah and conquered them.
  2. King Hezekiah sent this message to the king of Assyria at Lachish: "I have done wrong. I will pay whatever tribute money you demand if you will only go away." The king of Assyria then demanded a settlement of more than eleven tons of silver and about one ton of gold.
  3. To gather this amount, King Hezekiah used all the silver stored in the Temple of the LORD and in the palace treasury.
  4. Hezekiah even stripped the gold from the doors of the LORD's Temple and from the doorposts he had overlaid with gold, and he gave it all to the Assyrian king.
  5. Nevertheless the king of Assyria sent his commander in chief, his field commander, and his personal representative from Lachish with a huge army to confront King Hezekiah in Jerusalem. The Assyrians stopped beside the aqueduct that feeds water into the upper pool, near the road leading to the field where cloth is bleached.

  1. After this, the armies of the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat.
  2. Messengers came and told Jehoshaphat, "A vast army from Edom is marching against you from beyond the Dead Sea. They are already at Hazazon-tamar." (This was another name for En-gedi.)

Isaiah 10:5

  1. "Destruction is certain for Assyria, the whip of my anger. Its military power is a club in my hand.
  2. Assyria will enslave my people, who are a godless nation. It will plunder them, trampling them like dirt beneath its feet.
  3. But the king of Assyria will not know that it is I who sent him. He will merely think he is attacking my people as part of his plan to conquer the world.
  4. He will say, `Each of my princes will soon be a king, ruling a conquered land.
  5. We will destroy Calno just as we did Carchemish. Hamath will fall before us as Arpad did. And we will destroy Samaria just as we did Damascus.

Micah 2:13

  1. Your leader will break out and lead you out of exile. He will bring you through the gates of your cities of captivity, back to your own land. Your king will lead you; the LORD himself will guide you."

2 Kings 17:6

  1. Finally, in the ninth year of King Hoshea's reign, Samaria fell, and the people of Israel were exiled to Assyria. They were settled in colonies in Halah, along the banks of the Habor River in Gozan, and among the cities of the Medes.

  1. "But since my people refuse to return to me, they will go back to Egypt and will be forced to serve Assyria.

Isaiah 7:17

  1. "The LORD will bring a terrible curse on you, your nation, and your family. You will soon experience greater terror than has been known in all the years since Solomon's empire was divided into Israel and Judah. The mighty king of Assyria will come with his great army!"
  2. In that day the LORD will whistle for the army of Upper Egypt and for the army of Assyria. They will swarm around you like flies. Like bees, they will sting and kill.

2 Kings 18:11

  1. At that time the king of Assyria deported the Israelites to Assyria and put them in colonies in Halah, along the banks of the Habor River in Gozan, and among the cities of the Medes.

Isaiah 8:6

  1. "The people of Judah have rejected my gentle care and are rejoicing over what will happen to King Rezin and King Pekah.
  2. Therefore, the Lord will overwhelm them with a mighty flood from the Euphrates River--the king of Assyria and all his mighty armies.
  3. This flood will overflow all its channels and sweep into Judah. It will submerge Immanuel's land from one end to the other.
