2 Chronicles 10:1

1: Rehoboam went to Shechem, where all Israel had gathered to make him king.

Soon after this, Joseph's brothers went to pasture their father's flocks at Shechem.
When they had been gone for some time, Jacob said to Joseph, "Your brothers are over at Shechem with the flocks. I'm going to send you to them.I'm ready to go," Joseph replied.

The following cities were designated as cities of refuge: Kedesh of Galilee, in the hill country of Naphtali; Shechem, in the hill country of Ephraim; and Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), in the hill country of Judah.

Then Joshua summoned all the people of Israel to Shechem, along with their elders, leaders, judges, and officers. So they came and presented themselves to God.

All these men came in battle array to Hebron with the single purpose of making David the king of Israel. In fact, all Israel agreed that David should be their king.

When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard of Solomon's death, he returned from Egypt, for he had fled to Egypt to escape from King Solomon.
The leaders of Israel sent for Jeroboam, and the whole assembly of Israel went to speak with Rehoboam.
"Your father was a hard master," they said. "Lighten the harsh labor demands and heavy taxes that your father imposed on us. Then we will be your loyal subjects."
Rehoboam replied, "Give me three days to think this over. Then come back for my answer." So the people went away.

One day Gideon's son Abimelech went to Shechem to visit his mother's brothers. He said to them and to the rest of his mother's family,

Solomon was the father of Rehoboam. Rehoboam was the father of Abijah. Abijah was the father of Asaph.

Traveling through Canaan, they came to a place near Shechem and set up camp beside the oak at Moreh. At that time, the area was inhabited by Canaanites.
