26: When Saul returned to his home at Gibeah, a band of men whose hearts God had touched became his constant companions.

When the messengers came to Gibeah, Saul's hometown, and told the people about their plight, everyone broke into tears.

Zela, Haeleph, Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, and Kiriath-jearim--fourteen towns with their villages. This was the inheritance given to the families of the tribe of Benjamin.

and delivered him from his anguish. And God gave him favor before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. God also gave Joseph unusual wisdom, so that Pharaoh appointed him governor over all of Egypt and put him in charge of all the affairs of the palace.

So let seven of Saul's sons or grandsons be handed over to us, and we will execute them before the LORD at Gibeon, on the mountain of the LORD. All right," the king said, "I will do it."

"No," his master said, "we can't stay in this foreign city where there are no Israelites. We will go on to Gibeah.
We will find a place to spend the night in either Gibeah or Ramah."
So they went on. The sun was setting as they came to Gibeah, a town in the land of Benjamin,
so they stopped there to spend the night. They rested in the town square, but no one took them in for the night.
That evening an old man came home from his work in the fields. He was from the hill country of Ephraim, but he was living in Gibeah in the territory of Benjamin.

Instead, they came from their towns and gathered at Gibeah to fight the Israelites.

In that day of battle, your people will serve you willingly. Arrayed in holy garments, your vigor will be renewed each day like the morning dew.

When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were appointed to eternal life became believers.

Then God stirred the hearts of the priests and Levites and the leaders of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple of the LORD.
