3: Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there.

So ever since, that place has been known as Beersheba--"well of the oath"--because that was where they had sworn an oath.

Throughout the lifetime of Solomon, all of Judah and Israel lived in peace and safety. And from Dan to Beersheba, each family had its own home and garden.

But this is all happening to fulfill the words of the prophets as recorded in the Scriptures." At that point, all the disciples deserted him and fled.

"I, even I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?
Yet you have forgotten the LORD, your Creator, the one who put the stars in the sky and established the earth. Will you remain in constant dread of human oppression? Will you continue to fear the anger of your enemies from morning till night?

Then Amaziah sent orders to Amos: "Get out of here, you seer! Go on back to the land of Judah and do your preaching there!
Don't bother us here in Bethel with your prophecies, especially not here where the royal sanctuary is!"

And sure enough, when Pharaoh heard about it, he gave orders to have Moses arrested and killed. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and escaped to the land of Midian. When Moses arrived in Midian, he sat down beside a well.
