28: The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the LORD. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God.

Nehemiah 13:9

  2. They divided the burnt offerings among the people by their family groups, so they could offer them to the LORD according to the instructions recorded in the Book of Moses. They did the same with the bulls.
  3. Then they roasted the Passover lambs as prescribed; and they boiled the holy offerings in pots, kettles, and pans, and brought them out quickly so the people could eat them.
  4. Afterward the Levites prepared a meal for themselves and for the priests, because the priests had been busy from morning till night offering the burnt offerings and the fat portions. The Levites took responsibility for all these preparations.

Numbers 3:6

  1. "Call forward the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest as his assistants.
  2. They will serve Aaron and the whole community, performing their sacred duties in and around the Tabernacle.
  3. They will also maintain all the furnishings of the sacred tent, serving in the Tabernacle on behalf of all the Israelites.
  4. Assign the Levites to Aaron and his sons as their assistants.

Ezekiel 41:6

  1. These rooms were built in three levels, one above the other, with thirty rooms on each level. The supports for these rooms rested on ledges in the Temple wall, but the supports did not extend into the wall.
  2. Each level was wider than the one below it, corresponding to the narrowing of the Temple wall as it rose higher. A stairway led up from the bottom level through the middle level to the top level.
  3. I noticed that the Temple was built on a terrace, which provided a foundation for the side rooms. This terrace was 10 1/2 feet high.
  4. The outer wall of the Temple's side rooms was 8 3/4 feet thick. This left an open area between these side rooms
  5. and the row of rooms along the outer wall of the inner courtyard. This open area measured 35 feet in width, and it went all the way around the Temple.

  1. The king also gave Solomon the instructions concerning the work of the various divisions of priests and Levites in the Temple of the LORD. And he gave specifications for the items in the LORD's Temple which were to be used for worship and sacrifice.
