3: Judah had three sons through Bathshua, a Canaanite woman. Their names were Er, Onan, and Shelah. But the oldest son, Er, was a wicked man, so the LORD killed him.

Genesis 38:2

  1. There he met a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua, and he married her.
  2. She became pregnant and had a son, and Judah named the boy Er.
