8: "My advice to you is this: Go to God and present your case to him.

Trust me in your times of trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory."

So if you are suffering according to God's will, keep on doing what is right, and trust yourself to the God who made you, for he will never fail you.

"Stop quarreling with God! If you agree with him, you will have peace at last, and things will go well for you.

But while in deep distress, Manasseh sought the LORD his God and cried out humbly to the God of his ancestors.
And when he prayed, the LORD listened to him and was moved by his request for help. So the LORD let Manasseh return to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Manasseh had finally realized that the LORD alone is God!

He did not retaliate when he was insulted. When he suffered, he did not threaten to get even. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

And that is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.

You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows to him.

I cry out to God without holding back. Oh, that God would listen to me!
When I was in deep trouble, I searched for the Lord. All night long I pray, with hands lifted toward heaven, pleading. There can be no joy for me until he acts.

Jacob was terrified at the news. He divided his household, along with the flocks and herds and camels, into two camps.
He thought, "If Esau attacks one group, perhaps the other can escape."
Then Jacob prayed, "O God of my grandfather Abraham and my father, Isaac--O LORD, you told me to return to my land and to my relatives, and you promised to treat me kindly.
I am not worthy of all the faithfulness and unfailing love you have shown to me, your servant. When I left home, I owned nothing except a walking stick, and now my household fills two camps!
O LORD, please rescue me from my brother, Esau. I am afraid that he is coming to kill me, along with my wives and children.

Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from inside the fish.
He said, "I cried out to the LORD in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the world of the dead, and LORD, you heard me!
You threw me into the ocean depths, and I sank down to the heart of the sea. I was buried beneath your wild and stormy waves.
Then I said, `O LORD, you have driven me from your presence. How will I ever again see your holy Temple?'
"I sank beneath the waves, and death was very near. The waters closed in around me, and seaweed wrapped itself around my head.
