Isaiah 55 1 "Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink--even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk--it's all free!
Isaiah 55 2 Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen, and I will tell you where to get food that is good for the soul!
Isaiah 55 3 "Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, for the life of your soul is at stake. I am ready to make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the mercies and unfailing love that I promised to David.
Isaiah 55 4 He displayed my power by being my witness and a leader among the nations.
Isaiah 55 5 You also will command the nations, and they will come running to obey, because I, the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, have made you glorious."
Isaiah 55 6 Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.
Isaiah 55 7 Let the people turn from their wicked deeds. Let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong! Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Isaiah 55 8 "My thoughts are completely different from yours," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
Isaiah 55 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55 10 "The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry.
Isaiah 55 11 It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
Isaiah 55 12 You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
Isaiah 55 13 Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow. Where briers grew, myrtles will sprout up. This miracle will bring great honor to the LORD's name; it will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.
Psalms 41 1 Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor. The LORD rescues them in times of trouble.
Psalms 41 2 The LORD protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity and rescues them from their enemies.
Psalms 41 3 The LORD nurses them when they are sick and eases their pain and discomfort.
Psalms 41 4 "O LORD," I prayed, "have mercy on me. Heal me, for I have sinned against you."
Psalms 41 5 But my enemies say nothing but evil about me. "How soon will he die and be forgotten?" they ask.
Psalms 41 6 They visit me as if they are my friends, but all the while they gather gossip, and when they leave, they spread it everywhere.
Psalms 41 7 All who hate me whisper about me, imagining the worst for me.
Psalms 41 8 "Whatever he has, it is fatal," they say. "He will never get out of that bed!"
Psalms 41 9 Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, has turned against me.
Psalms 41 10 LORD, have mercy on me. Make me well again, so I can pay them back!
Psalms 41 11 I know that you are pleased with me, for you have not let my enemy triumph over me.
Psalms 41 12 You have preserved my life because I am innocent; you have brought me into your presence forever.
Psalms 41 13 Bless the LORD, the God of Israel, who lives forever from eternal ages past. Amen and amen!
Psalms 55 1 Listen to my prayer, O God. Do not ignore my cry for help!
Psalms 55 2 Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles.
Psalms 55 3 My enemies shout at me, making loud and wicked threats. They bring trouble on me, hunting me down in their anger.
Psalms 55 4 My heart is in anguish. The terror of death overpowers me.
Psalms 55 5 Fear and trembling overwhelm me. I can't stop shaking.
Psalms 55 6 Oh, how I wish I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest!
Psalms 55 7 I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness.
Psalms 55 8 How quickly I would escape--far away from this wild storm of hatred.
Psalms 55 9 Destroy them, Lord, and confuse their speech, for I see violence and strife in the city.
Psalms 55 10 Its walls are patrolled day and night against invaders, but the real danger is wickedness within the city.
Psalms 55 11 Murder and robbery are everywhere there; threats and cheating are rampant in the streets.
Psalms 55 12 It is not an enemy who taunts me--I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me--I could have hidden from them.
Psalms 55 13 Instead, it is you--my equal, my companion and close friend.
Psalms 55 14 What good fellowship we enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God.
Psalms 55 15 Let death seize my enemies by surprise; let the grave swallow them alive, for evil makes its home within them.
Psalms 55 16 But I will call on God, and the LORD will rescue me.
Psalms 55 17 Morning, noon, and night I plead aloud in my distress, and the LORD hears my voice.
Psalms 55 18 He rescues me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me, even though many still oppose me.
Psalms 55 19 God, who is king forever, will hear me and will humble them. For my enemies refuse to change their ways; they do not fear God.
Psalms 55 20 As for this friend of mine, he betrayed me; he broke his promises.
Psalms 55 21 His words are as smooth as cream, but in his heart is war. His words are as soothing as lotion, but underneath are daggers!
Psalms 55 22 Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
Psalms 55 23 But you, O God, will send the wicked down to the pit of destruction. Murderers and liars will die young, but I am trusting you to save me.
